FedEx:
Dear Valuable Customers
This is Sendoncom Customer Support
We would like to inform you that we have received a notice from FedEx regarding upcoming changes to customs procedures and fees related to shipments to the EU.
Future changes to EU customs regulations will make importing low-value goods into the EU more complex and costly.
From July 1, 2026 , a customs duty of 3 euros will be applied to each line of the import declaration to customs (which may include multiple items depending on the customs classification) for imports with a real value of 150 euros or less .
While the EU's One-Stop Shop (IOSS) import system, which is currently optional , does not allow for the collection of new tariffs, it can simplify transportation and reduce delays by collecting VAT at the point of sale. Therefore, the period before the July 1st changes is a good opportunity to consider whether IOSS is right for your business and to implement it.
Let's prepare for change.
The optional IOSS scheme allows e-commerce suppliers and online marketplaces/platforms to declare and pay VAT on mail-order sales of goods priced at €150 or less that are imported from countries outside the EU. This eliminates unexpected charges to recipients and allows for faster customs clearance at the destination.
Simplifying VAT collection will reduce delivery delays and minimize processing issues:
-
Ensure seamless VAT collection at checkout - avoid unexpected taxes.
-
Enabling faster customs clearance - reducing the risk of delays, returns, or refusals of delivery due to unpaid customer fees.
-
Improving the customer experience - making taxes clear to customers.
Before the de minimis duty exemption ends in July, we recommend that you consider registering with IOSS and confidently adapt to the changes in customs duties.
