Q. What is identity verification, and why is it necessary?

A. 

In accordance with the amendment of Japan's Act on Prevention of Transfer of Criminal Proceeds, as of 1 Apr 2013, overseas shipping agents are required to conduct identity verification before delivering packages.

This verification process entails confirming the following three points:

  • Your name
  • Your date of birth
  • Your current residential address
     

Furthermore, when conducting identity verification, please submit the following documents:

  1. Proof of identity (with photo): Local driver's license, ID card, passport, etc.

If the above documents do not contain your current residential address, please prepare the following supplementary documents:

  1. Proof of current address: Bank transaction statements, receipts for public utility bills at your place of residence, residence permits issued by local government agencies, resident registration certificates, tax certificates, receipts for public utility bills at your place of residence, residency certificates issued by local police, etc.*

*For documents with expiration dates, they are considered valid on the date they are submitted to us.
For documents without expiration dates, they must be dated within the past six months prior to the date they are submitted to us.
