Starting January 13, 2025, FedEx revised its shipping regulations, and shipments exceeding the company's new size standards are now subject to a minimum billable weight of 18 kg.
The specific size standards set by FedEx are as follows:
- Packages with the longest side up to 121 cm.
- Packages with the second longest side up to 76 cm.
- Packages where the combined length and girth up to 266 cm (Length + (Width × 2) + (Height × 2)).
The bilable weight will be applied in the case if even one of the above size rgualtions are exceeded.
Example: A package measuring 130 cm × 12 cm × 12 cm, weighing 3 kg
- Actual weight: 3 kg
- Volumetric weight: 130 * 12 * 12 / 5000 ≈ 3.75 kg
→ Due to exceeding the package standard regualtion of the longest side up to 121 cm, the minimum billable weight of 18 kg is applied.
In particular, elongated items such as golf clubs or fishing rods tend to have a significant discrepancy between their actual or volumetric weight and the minimum billable weight, which may result in a relatively large increase in shipping costs.
